The High Court in Accra has granted bail to Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), along with six other individuals who are facing charges related to corruption.
They appeared before the Criminal Division 3 of the High Court on Tuesday, July 23, 2025.
The accused individuals include Jacob Kwamina Amuah, Wendy Newman, Albert Ankrah, Isaac Mensah, Bright Bernako-Mensah, and Kwaku Aboagye Acquah.
Each of the accused has been granted bail set at GH₵2 million, requiring two sureties. One of these sureties must be a public servant with a net monthly income of not less than GH₵5,000 and and must also provide proof of ownership of landed property.
According to the bail conditions, the accused are required to report to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) every two weeks.
The charges arise from an alleged scheme of extortion and money laundering that involves over GH₵280 million.
In total, they are facing 25 charges, which include extortion by a public officer, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and money laundering.
The case has been adjourned to 26 August 2025, when substantive hearings are expected to begin.
