A petroleum tanker accident at Yamoransa in the Central Region left at least one person trapped, according to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

In a statement from the GNFS Central Regional Headquarters, the incident involved a parked fuel tanker with registration number GT-1150-12, which was struck and severely damaged in a crash.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a victim trapped inside the wrecked tanker.

They also found personal items scattered around the scene and petroleum products spilled across the road, posing serious safety and environmental risks.

“The crew quickly cordoned off the area with cones and successfully extricated the trapped victim,” the GNFS reported.

The victim’s condition remains unknown at this time.

While the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, the incident has renewed concerns over the risks posed by stationary fuel tankers on busy roads especially in high-traffic areas like Yamoransa.
