Some parents who forcibly took their wards home Tuesday, after reports of another death at the Kumasi Academy, have returned their wards to undergo vaccination.

Following the advice of the Ashanti Regional health director, Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang, the parents have brought their wards back to the school to be vaccinated.

Angry parents stormed the school yesterday, Tuesday, December 5, to take away their children after reports of an unknown disease claimed the lives of 4 students within a week.

However, some parents still insist on taking the students back home after the vaccination is over because they are not convinced of their safety.

Students have begun receiving Azithromycin antibiotics against possible bacterial infection.

The Ashanti regional health director admonished parents to comply with the directive to undergo vaccination along with their children since it is unclear if they may have contracted the disease.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum who is on a visit to the school has assured parents that the ministry will do all it can to settle the matter, while appealing to other parents who are still home with their wards to follow due process to ensure the safety of all.

Test results from the Noguchi Memorial Centre for Medical Research have ruled out meningitis as the cause of the deaths at Kumasi Academy.

Some parents however, suspect it could be spiritual hence the decision to organize intercessory prayer sessions to drive out the evil spirits in the school.
