There is some form of tension at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) following the dismissal of some principal staff last Friday.

Some of the students are unhappy with the new development and have blocked some streets on campus with tables.

The dismissals, according to reports, have resulted in a series of acts of disgruntlement on the part of some staff and students of the institution and that if care is not taken teaching and learning will soon come to a standstill.

The students during the protest held placards which read "Bring back our lecturers"

The demonstrating students called for the dismissal of the Vice Chancellor, Rev. Fr Anthony Afful Broni.

Academic activities came to a halt Tuesday morning as the students took over the forecourt of the administration block.

Personnel from the Ghana Police Service responded and were deplored on campus to prevent the students from destroying property.
