The Ghana Police Service has arrested several suspected drug dealers and seized various narcotic substances during a special operation across parts of the Kumasi metropolis.
The operation, carried out by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Special Operations Team in collaboration with the Ashanti Regional Police Command, targeted locations identified through intelligence gathering as hotspots for drug-related activities.
Among those arrested was 61-year-old Kwame Afriyie, popularly known as “Con Papa” or “American Man,” who police say is a known figure in the illicit drug trade. A search at his residence and provision shop at Asawase led to the discovery of dozens of parcels of substances suspected to be cannabis.

Another suspect, Kofi Acheampong, also known as “Mokobileyman,” was arrested at Asafo after police allegedly found parcels of suspected narcotics, dried leaves believed to be cannabis, and restricted pharmaceutical products in his possession.
In a separate operation, police arrested Michael Owusu Agyeman, a National Service personnel, at Krofrom. Officers recovered 15 bottles of fruit juice suspected to have been infused with cannabis.

The crackdown extended to several communities including Atonsu-Bokuro, Kenyase, Asokwa, Buokrom and Asafo, leading to the arrest of additional suspects.
Items retrieved during the operations included suspected cannabis, tramadol, ecstasy tablets, amphetamine tablets, suspected cocaine and other controlled substances.

Police said all exhibits have been sent for forensic examination while investigations continue to identify other individuals linked to the drug network.
The suspects have been arraigned before court and remanded into custody pending further proceedings.
The Police Service said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on drug trafficking and abuse and has urged the public to support the fight by volunteering information on illegal drug activities.
