The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers in connection with an attack on three persons along the Tumu-Kowie road in the Sissala East District.

The incident occurred on May 30, and led to the theft of an unregistered Apsonic motorbike at gunpoint.

“The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested two robbery suspects in connection with a robbery incident that occurred on 30th May 2026 along the Tumu-Kowie road in the Sissala East District,” the law enforcement agency said in a statement dated June 1.

The suspects have been identified as 20-year-old Seidu Muizu and 22-year-old Salifu Mutada.

The statement noted that a swift response by police officers led to the recovery of the stolen motorbike shortly after the robbery.

According to the police statement, further investigations also led to the retrieval of another unregistered motorbike believed to have been used in the operation.

“Following swift intelligence-led operation, Police successfully recovered the stolen motorbike and arrested the suspects,” the Command stated.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects may be linked to a series of robbery incidents that have recently affected residents in Tumu and surrounding communities.

Police have indicated that efforts are underway to recover a firearm allegedly used during the robbery and to determine whether the suspects are connected to other crimes in the district.
