Police in the Upper West Region have begun a full investigation into the suspected murder of a night security guard in Wa.

The victim, 55-year-old Yahaya Issah, widely known in the community as “Soja,” was found dead under disturbing circumstances early Sunday morning.

His body was discovered along the Wa-Dori stretch near the new market on September 21, 2025. According to reports, he had visible injuries to his head and face, with signs of trauma and bloodstains that suggest foul play.

Deputy Regional Police Commander, ACP Peter Kamasa, confirmed that a regional crime scene team has been deployed to collect evidence.

The body was taken to the Upper West Regional Hospital Mortuary for autopsy before being released to the family for burial in line with Islamic rites.

In an official statement, the Upper West Regional Police Command said it visited the bereaved family in Dodiyiri to offer condolences and assure them of a thorough and transparent investigation.

“We are treating this case with the seriousness it deserves and are committed to finding those responsible,” ACP Kamasa noted. “The public can support us by sharing any information they may have.”

Residents have been urged to stay alert and report anything suspicious to aid the investigation. The police have assured the community of their commitment to justice and maintaining peace in the area.
