The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested 33 suspects and seized drugs, motorbikes and other items during an anti-crime operation in parts of Kasoa and its surrounding communities.

The intelligence-led swoops were carried out in the early hours of December 16 and 17, 2025, at Kasoa Old Market, Awutu Breku, Gomoa Buduata, Senya Breku and nearby areas as part of efforts to clamp down on criminal activities before, during and after the festive season.

According to the police, some of the suspects were found in possession of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and quantities of the restricted drug tramadol. In addition, 45 motorbikes were impounded during the operation, while a toy gun was also retrieved.

Police say verification and documentation checks are currently ongoing on all the seized motorbikes, while the arrested suspects are being screened to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities. Those found culpable will be processed and put before court to face justice.

The Regional Police Command has assured the public of its preparedness to maintain law and order throughout the festive period. It also urged residents to take personal safety precautions, including avoiding the carrying of large sums of money, moving in groups especially at night, obeying road traffic regulations, and refraining from drunk driving and over-speeding.

The police further warned that anyone who engages in criminal acts will be arrested and dealt with according to the law.
