Background

Police in the Ashanti region have allegedly beaten and butchered a 33-year-old driver, causing his death shortly after the incident.

The incident occurred on October 15, 2019.

Residents of Asante-Adomfe in the region narrated eyewitness accounts of how some police officers beat and butchered the driver.

Residents said that about seven police officers with three in uniform stormed the area for an operation and had an altercation with the deceased, restrained him to the ground, kicked and punched him in the face before some of the officers started butchering him with a machete.
