A police officer was shot dead on Sunday after masked gunmen stormed the town of Sampa in the Bono Region.
The armed men reportedly opened fire in parts of the township in the afternoon, causing panic among residents.
Security forces have since increased their presence in the area to restore calm.
Police have yet to issue an official statement, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
Sampa, located near Ghana’s border with Côte d’Ivoire, has in recent years witnessed sporadic tensions linked to local rivalries.
Investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators and determine the cause of the violence.
