President Akufo-Addo at the third State of the Nation Address (SONA 2019) disclosed that the Ministry of health is working to obtain financial clearance for the recruitment of the 2017 and 2018 nursing graduates.

According to the President ''In December 2018 the Ministry of health received further financial clearance to employ 14,254 nurses assistance clinical and preventive''.

''The Health delivery system will be significantly strengthened by expecting the arrival of 275 ambulances, that is one per constituency to make treatment of emergency cases more effective''Akufo-Addo stated.

Highlighting on medical drones in this year's SONA President Akufo-Addo said drone technology has also been introduced into the system to help deliver essential medicines, blood and blood products into remote communities.

He also said: ''Government has paid the 1.2bn areas we inherited and brought the operations of the NHIS back to life''.

The President also touched on the renewal process of the NHIS: ''In 2018 the introduction of mobile renewal of membership the NHIS was launched since then 70,000 members renew their membership every week by dialling *929# on any mobile network''.

Akufo Addo said in collaboration with the NIA, Ghanaians will be able to register, renew and access healthcare services using the Ghana Card.
