Three arrested for alleged weapon smuggling in Northern Region

The Northern Regional Police Command has apprehended three individuals suspected of smuggling weapons following an intelligence-led operation in Savelugu.

The suspects, identified as Gaba Abdallah Alhassan, Alhassan Abdallah, and Alhassan Abdul Kudus, were taken into custody on May 1, 2025, from different locations.

Authorities recovered a significant cache of firearms, including an AK-47 rifle, an SMG, a Smith and Wesson SD40 VE pistol, and a single-barrel gun.

Additionally, two magazines, various rounds of ammunition ranging from AK-47 and pistol rounds to BB cartridges were seized during the operation.

The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue, with legal proceedings expected to follow to ensure due process.
