Luxury items belonging to convicted drug trafficker Nayele Ametefe has been given out to some rehabilitation centres. The items confiscated from her homes and shops included furniture and electrical appliances.

Nayele Ametefe was arrested at Heathrow Airport in 2014 with 12kg of cocaine and has since been handed an eight-year jail term by the Isleworth Crown Court in the UK.

An Accra High Court aside the ruling of the UK court ordered that her properties in the country be confiscated and given out to charity.

NACOB on June 21 confiscated the items and presented them to three rehab centres in the country namely House of ST. Francis, Addicted disease unit of the Korle Bu teaching hospital and Daserick.

Giving reasons for the donation, the Deputy Executive Secretary of NACOB, Micheal Addo said jailed drug traffickers are not allowed to enjoy the proceeds of their dealings.

He stated that most of these donations are done by NACOB to help keep the rehab centres running.
