The Savannah Regional Police Command has arrested two persons in connection with the alleged mob lynching of a young man at Daboya in the North Gonja District.
The victim, identified only as Yibonwura, was allegedly attacked and severely assaulted after he was accused of stealing shea nuts. He died from injuries sustained during the attack.
The incident was captured on video and circulated widely on social media.
In a statement dated August, 26, 2026, the Savannah Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) David K. Amoako, said two suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident.
The suspects were identified as Adjei Abdulai, 25, a carpenter, and Issah Mahama, 22, a student.
According to the police, the two suspects were arrested following investigations into the alleged attack and were in custody assisting with the investigation.
The police said a manhunt had also been launched for a third suspect who was allegedly connected to the incident.
The Ghana Police Service said investigations were continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and identify all persons connected to the alleged crime.
