The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a case of robbery, murder, and attempted murder that occurred at Aduman in the Kodie Municipality on October 19, 2025.
According to a police statement signed by ASP Emmanuel Agbodzi, Acting Public Relations Officer, the suspects, Sani Abacha, 28, and Asante Eric, 23, were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that on the day of the incident, the complainant parked his tricycle at his residence in Aduman Old Town and traveled to Kumasi.
“Upon his return that evening, both the tricycle and his two housekeepers, Kwabena Yankyira, 18, and Kwabena Boateng, 15, were missing,” the police said.
Investigators revealed that Abacha lured the victims under the pretext of transporting firewood from his farm but later attacked them with a cutlass, inflicting multiple wounds before fleeing with the tricycle.
“He later contacted Asante Eric, and together they hid the tricycle at the Aboabogya Cemetery before selling it to a third suspect, Balawe, who is currently at large,” the statement added.
A resident later found Kwabena Yankyira unconscious with deep cutlass wounds and rushed him to St. Patrick’s Hospital, Maase-Offinso, where he is receiving treatment. The body of Kwabena Boateng was also discovered nearby.
Police said a cutlass believed to have been used in the attack was retrieved at the scene. “Both suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime,” the police confirmed.
The two were arraigned before the Kodie Magistrate Court on October 28, 2025, and have been remanded into prison custody to reappear on November 25.
ASP Agbodzi added, “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the third suspect and recover the stolen tricycle.”
