The Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of the Forestry Commission Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has assured beneficiaries of  Youth in Afforestation programme that they will receive their October and November 2018 allowances by Thursday, February 14 2019.

Some beneficiaries of the Afforestation programme across Ghana recently threatened to embark on strike if the government fails to pay their accumulated allowances.

Mr Afriyie gave this assurance during the tour of the Youth in Afforestation planting site in the Greater Accra Region yesterday, February 12 2019.

According to Mr Afriyie:''They have obtained two sets of allowances for them, they received one this morning but Thursday they will receive another one. That is a demonstration that the government acknowledges that these people have worked and that they have done extremely well and that we all want to ensure that they get what is due them.''

Meanwhile, in December 2018, the Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John gave assurances that the delayed allowances of persons recruited into the government’s Youth in Afforestation programme will be paid by close of December 19 2018.

According to him, the Commission made the necessary arrangements to have the monies released to all the beneficiaries of the programme through their E-zwitch accounts.

CEO of Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie was put under attack by hundreds of the beneficiaries who have registered their displeasure through a series of protests since September 2018 over the non-payment of their allowances for several months.
