The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has been remanded into police custody for two weeks over ongoing investigations into alleged misinformation and offensive public comments.
His latest arrest took place on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, just weeks after he was granted bail in connection with the same matter.
Abronye DC was first arrested on April 13 as part of investigations into allegations of offensive conduct, false publication and statements allegedly considered capable of causing fear and panic among the public. He was later granted bail while investigations continued.
However, investigators have re-arrested the outspoken politician as security agencies deepen their probe into the allegations against him.
While details surrounding the latest arrest have not been fully disclosed, sources close to the investigation say the case forms part of broader efforts by authorities to tackle the spread of alleged false information and inflammatory public commentary that could threaten public order.
Officials are yet to confirm whether fresh charges will be filed against him as investigations continue.
