The University of Education, Winneba, has elected a new President of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).

Annobil Ebenezer, together with his running mate Raphael Ackaah Donkor, secured a decisive victory in Thursday’s polls with a total of 8,499 votes, representing 66.23% of the valid ballots cast.

The election, which saw keen competition from several candidates, was described by many students as one of the most engaging in recent years. Annobil’s campaign centered on the theme of a “Rebirth of Hope,” promising practical solutions to everyday student challenges. Among his outlined policies are the 30-10-30-30 flexible fee plan to reduce financial pressure, the introduction of an SRC Free Data SIM providing 10GB monthly for students, the establishment of an SRC Shuttle Service, and the Borehole Project to address recurring water shortages in halls of residence.

In his victory message, Annobil expressed gratitude to God, the Electoral Commission, and the entire student body for their trust and support. He also extended an invitation to his fellow contestants to join him in building a stronger SRC, emphasizing that, “Elections are over, but the real work begins with administration.”

He further congratulated all winners in the various portfolios, urging them to see leadership not as a position of pride, but as a call to serve.

Annobil closed his address by reassuring students of his readiness to deliver on his campaign promises, saying, “This is not the end; it is the beginning of something truly special. Mmrɛ no nie. We Dey For You.”

The new administration is expected to be inaugurated in the coming weeks to officially begin its tenure.
