Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal, and Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Ayawaso East MP, Mahama Naser, have officially entered the NDC Ayawaso East primary after successfully filing their nomination forms.

The two filed on Tuesday, January 27 at the Greater Accra Regional Office of the NDC.

Speaking after submitting his forms, Mr. Jamal said his decision to contest is driven by service, not personal gain.

“My motivation is not materialistic. It is about serving my people,” he said, adding that although serving abroad is an honour, he believes he is now more needed in Ayawaso East.

“When duty calls, you must respond,” he noted.

Hajia Amina Adam said she decided to contest after receiving encouragement from constituents to continue the work started by her late husband.

Both aspirants will compete with four others for the NDC parliamentary ticket on February 7.

The Electoral Commission has secheduled March 3 for the by-election.
