Bawumia visits Kufuor and Akufo-Addo after NPP flagbearer victory

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has visited former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo after winning the party’s 2026 presidential primary.

On Tuesday, Dr. Bawumia visited former President John Agyekum Kufuor to express his gratitude for his guidance and longstanding mentorship during his political journey.

Discussions between the two leaders focused on party unity, leadership, and strategic direction as the NPP rebuilds ahead of the 2028 general elections.

In separate engagements, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo congratulated Dr. Bawumia on his victory and pledged his support for efforts to heal divisions within the party. Mr. Akufo-Addo said he would commit his energy to strengthening the NPP’s base and restoring public confidence as the flagbearer prepares to lead the party into the next national polls.

Dr. Bawumia, who secured 56.48 per cent of valid votes in the NPP primary, has pledged inclusive leadership and urged all party stakeholders to work together for a united front. He has emphasised that unity within the party is essential to improving its appeal to voters nationwide.
