The Disciplinary Committee of the Convention People's Party (CPP) has cleared suspended General Secretary, Nii Armah Akomfrah and National Youth Organiser of charges of indiscipline which led to their suspension.

The two executives were suspended for after they publicly condemned President John Mahama for accepting a  Ford car valued around $100,000 as gift from a Burkinabe contractor.

Their condemnation publicly contradicted the position of the party's flagbearer, Ivor Greenstreet who stated at the time that   it did not "feel wrong" for the President to accept a gift from a businessman despite it contradicting a code of ethics for the Executive.

But committee's report released on Friday said, “After several reminders, no charges were brought before the Disciplinary Committee as at the time the Committee sat ….and concluded their deliberations….”, 14 days after the chairman’s promise.

“That due to the absence of charges before the committee, it is the finding of the committee that the Respondents were not given any chance to know beforehand the charges levelled against them. This is clearly in breach of Article 114(e) of the party constitution which reads as follows; “A person referred to the DC shall be given adequate time to prepare his/her answer to the charges...", the report added.

The DC's decision may cause some awkwardness as the party also appointed new executives to replace the duo when they were suspended.
