The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared Bernard Bediako Baidoo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the Member of Parliament-elect for the Akwatia constituency in the Eastern Region.
Bernard Bediako Baidoo secured 18,199 votes to win the seat, while his opponent, Solomon Kwame Asumadu, garnered 15,235 votes.
Owusu Patrick of the Liberal Progressive Party (LPP) trailed far behind with 82 votes. Out of the total ballots cast, 33,819 were valid, while 303 were rejected.
This announcement follows today's by-election, which was triggered by the sudden passing of Ernest Kumi.
Bernard Bediako Baidoo is expected to be swore into office when Parliament returns from recess in October.
