The Electoral Commission says it is fully prepared to conduct the parliamentary rerun in the Kpandai Constituency scheduled for Tuesday, December 30, 2025, even as a legal challenge remains before the Supreme Court.
According to the Commission, preparations for the poll are progressing steadily, with key activities already underway.
Deputy Director of Research at the EC, Fred Tetteh, said the Commission fixed the date in line with its constitutional mandate and will proceed unless a court ruling directs otherwise.

Speaking in an interview on Monday, December 15, 2025, Mr Tetteh explained that the EC is closely monitoring developments at the Supreme Court while continuing its operational work to avoid delays that could affect the electoral calendar.
“We are aware of an appeal in court and, as a law abiding institution, we fixed the date for December 30, 2025. If the Supreme Court rules otherwise, we will comply, but until then we are proceeding with our plans,” he said.
He disclosed that ballot papers for the rerun will be printed in Accra, with political parties to be notified ahead of time to observe the process.
Training of election officials is expected to take place within five days of the poll, while recruitment of temporary staff has already begun.

Mr Tetteh added that officials who will supervise the rerun have been recalled and that a notice of poll will soon be published to formally inform residents of Kpandai about voting arrangements.
He noted that all outstanding preparations, including ballot printing and public notices, can be completed within ten days.
The Kpandai seat was declared vacant after a Tamale High Court ruling ordered a rerun of the parliamentary election.
The affected Member of Parliament, Mathew Nyindam, has since challenged the decision at the Supreme Court, setting the stage for a closely watched rerun in the constituency.
