Executive Director of Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII), Linda Ofori-Kwafo has described the distribution of outboard motors to fishermen in the Western region by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as a sly way to influence voters.

According to the leader of the anti-corruption unit: “if the outboard motors were bought with state resources, then it amounts to abusing incumbency.”

She pointed out on Joy Mid-Day News that such acts must be discouraged if we seek free, fair and credible elections.

Countering Linda Ofori-Kwafo’s claim, spokesperson for the NDC 2016 campaign team, Joyce Bawa declared “several other communities have actually benefited from this social intervention from government” disputing it was a way of buying votes.
