President Akufo Addo has expressed disinterest in the case leading to the arrest of a member of the National Democratic Congress, Frank Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Appiah Stadium for allegedly insulting him.

In a statement signed by the Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid, Nana Akufo- Addo said although he is aware of the matter, he does not see the need to pursue it since a similar issue has already been dealt with two years ago.

"The President wishes to state that he is not interested in pursuing the matter since same was ruled upon by the National Media Commission(NMC) on February 6, 2015. This follows a series of publications in pro-NDC newspapers making similar claims. Lawyers for then Candidate Akufo- Addo took these newspapers to the NMC to afford them the opportunity to substantiate their claims. They failed to do so, following which the NMC asked them to retract and apologize.", The statement read.

He added that he is convinced that Appiah Stadium was only "reciting from an NDC propaganda book"

The president has since directed the police administration to drop the case against Frank Kwaku Appiah.

Appiah Stadium was arrested on Tuesday by the Ashanti Regional Police to substantiate allegations that President Nana Akufo- Addo smokes 'wee', which is a banned substance in the country.

He has been given a police enquiry bail and has further apologized to the President for his comment.
