The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has delivered President John Dramani Mahama’s goodwill message to the people of Akwatia, urging them to rally behind the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Bernard Bediako Baidoo, in Tuesday’s by-election.
Speaking at the party’s final rally in the constituency on Sunday, Mr Debrah said President Mahama’s vision of jobs, digitalised farming, and improved livelihoods could only be realised if the NDC secured victory in Akwatia.
“The President’s message is simple: Vote for Bernard Baidoo, and together we shall build a future of jobs, dignity, and development for Akwatia,” he declared to rousing applause.
Mr Debrah described the NDC candidate, a 40-year-old lawyer, as the ideal choice to translate government policies into tangible development projects for the people.
The rally, which drew a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters, turned into a show of strength for the NDC. When Mr Debrah asked if the people would support the candidate, the crowd roared back with a resounding “YES!”.
The by-election is being contested by two candidates: Bernard Bediako Baidoo of the NDC and Solomon Kwame Asumadu, also 40, a licensed small-scale miner representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP). The contest follows the death of the incumbent MP, Ernest Kumi.
