Co-founder of Databank, Ken Ofori-Atta has been appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as his Finance Minister-designate.

Mr Ofori-Atta, a cousin to Mr Akufo-Addo, had been reported to be in contention with former Minster of State at the Finance Ministry in the Kufuor administration and MP for Tafo, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei.

But his handling of the finances of the Akufo-Addo campaign put him in very good stead for the position.

Announcing the first batch of his ministerial appointments at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday, Nana Akufo-Addo described the accomplished investment banker as one who has the capacity to lead the finance sector that will ensure the transformation of the country’s economy.
