Leave an indelible mark in Parliament - Bawumia charges Kumawu MP-elect

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has congratulated the Kumawu MP-elect, Ernest Yaw Anim following his victory in Tuesday’s by-election.

Bawumia also charged Yaw Anim to make his constituents proud and leave an indelible mark in Parliament

He further expressed gratitude to the people of Kumawu for voting Yaw Anim as MP-elect.

“Congratulations to Ernest Yaw Anim and Kumawu for this victory. Anim, go and make Kumawu proud and leave an indelible mark in Parliament. Thank you Kumawu,” the Vice President wrote on social media

NPP's Ernest Yaw Anim was declared the winner of Tuesday’s by-election in Kumawu.

He polled 15,264 votes against his closest contender the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Akwasi Amankwah who garnered  3,723 votes.

The two independent candidates, Kwaku Duah with a bird as his symbol had 2,478  votes while the other Kwaku Duah with a hoe as his symbol had 62 votes.

The by-election was necessitated by the death of the sitting MP. Phillip Basoah, who was buried on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

Ernest Yaw Anim (NPP) – 15,264 (70.91%)

Kwasi Amankwah (NDC) – 3,723 (17.29%)

 

Kwaku Duah 1 (Ind) – 2,478 (11.51%)

Kwaku Duah 2 (Ind) – 62 (0.29%)

Total valid votes – 21,527

Rejected – 204

Total votes cast – 21,731

Registered voters – 34,790

Turnout – 62.46%
