Member of Parliament for the Odododiodoo constituency, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye is set to honour an invitation to the Jamestown Police Station this morning following classes between NDC and NPP sympathisers.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) had held a mammoth rally in the Odododiodoo Constituency on Tuesday drawing in bigwigs and presidential nominee, Nana Akufo-Addo who impressed on the people to vote for NPP MP nominee, Nii Lante Bannerman.

After the NPP rally, three persons sustained various degrees of injury following a clash between supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidates in the Odododiodoo Constituency. The NDC had also held a rally in the area on the same day.

Residents claim they heard gunshots, while others said they saw some people fleeing for their lives.

The three injured persons were later taken to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KATH) for treatment, personnel from the James Town Police Station later visited the scene and arrested two persons Reindorf Emmanuel, 40, and Jacob Annan, 22, who are assisting the police in their investigations.

Hon. Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye who doubles as Sports Ministers is accused by the NPP MP nominee, Nii Lante Bannerman of assaulting him at the entrance of his house, the following morning after the fracas between the supporters. It is a charge the NDC MP has refuted although not categorically.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Accra Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Afia Tenge, mentioned the police has leads to enable prosecution of offenders.

Hon. Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye is expected to give his account of events given that he stands accused by the NPP of instigating the violence.
