President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Ghana’s economy is stabilising and returning to growth, declaring in Parliament that “Ghana is back” and “Ghana is working again.”

Delivering the 2026 State of the Nation Address on Friday, 27 February, President Mahama told Members of Parliament that although the path to recovery had been challenging, his government’s economic measures are beginning to yield tangible results.

“I was clear from the outset that recovery would not come easily, but I was also clear that I would stop at nothing to turn this situation around and bring relief to Ghanaians,” he said.

President Mahama noted that his administration prioritised discipline, reforms and stability over short-term political convenience, stressing that these choices were necessary to rebuild trust in Ghana’s economic management.

He reminded Parliament that during his previous address, he warned that prudent and difficult measures would be required to restore economic credibility and integrity.

“Today, Mr Speaker, I can say to you with confidence Ghana is back. Ghana is working again and Ghana is open for business,” he declared.

According to the President, key economic fundamentals are improving steadily, providing a clear pathway toward sustained growth and accelerated development.

He said the government remains committed to reforms aimed at strengthening macroeconomic stability, attracting investment and improving living conditions.

President Mahama emphasised that his administration deliberately chose discipline over waste, reform over excuses and stability over speculation, describing those principles as central to Ghana’s economic recovery agenda.
