The government has earmarked GH¢150 million to fund the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Finance Minister Dr Ato Forson said on Thursday.
Dr Forson announced the allocation while presenting the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on the theme “Resetting for Growth, Jobs and Economic Transformation”.
"Sports remain one of Ghana's greatest unifying forces and a powerful driver of youth development, community pride, and national identity," said Forson.
The Black Stars, four-time African champions, secured qualification for the tournament by finishing top of Group I in the Africa qualifiers, sealing their fifth appearance at the global showpiece to be staged across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Preparations for the World Cup are already underway, with Ghana participating in the Kirin Cup in Asian.
The Black Stars would know its group-stage opponents when the official draw takes place on Dec 5, 2025, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
