All you need to know as Kaizer Chiefs play Al Ahly in CAF CL final Saturday

Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa will face Al Ahly of Egypt in the CAF Champions League final.

Kaizer Chiefs are playing their first-ever Champions League final.

Al Ahly are the title holders, and are playing their record 14th Champions League final. They also hold the record of most titles won (9) having been crowned champions in 1982, 1987, 2001, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012, 2013 and 2019-20.

When?

The match will be played on Saturday 17 July. Kickoff at 19:00 GMT

Where?

The final will be held at Complexe Mohamed V Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco.

Awards

Besides the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Trophy, the winners will get the prize money of 2.5 million US $, while the runners up collect 1.25 million US $.

The Champions will have a place in the 2021 CAF Super Cup where they will face the winners of the 2020-21 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup. They will also represent Africa at the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled in Japan next December.

Important Rules

Five substitutions for each team are allowed, with nine players on the bench.

If the 90 minutes of regular time end in a draw, 30 minutes of extra-time will be played. An extra substitution is allowed in extra-time.

If there is no winner after the extra-time, penalty shootout will take place to determine the winners.

VAR
The video assistant referee (VAR) system will be used in the final.
