Ghana's Black Stars will step up preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a high-profile friendly against Mexico in May.

The two nations are set to meet on Friday, May 22, 2026, at a venue in Mexico yet to be confirmed.

The fixture forms part of both sides’ build-up to the global tournament, which will be staged across Mexico, Canada and the United States.

It is expected to offer the technical teams another opportunity to assess players in contention for World Cup selection.

The Mexico clash increases Ghana’s scheduled preparatory matches to three, following earlier confirmations of friendlies against Austria and Germany during the March FIFA international window.

Ghana, meanwhile, begins its Group L campaign against Panama on June 17, before taking on England and Croatia in what is expected to be a fiercely competitive group.

After early exits in 2014 and 2022, the four-time African champions will be eager to make a stronger statement this summer and reassert their pedigree on football’s biggest stage.
