Coach Osam-Duodu dies aged 78

The death has been reported of former Black Stars coach Fred Osam-Duodu.

According to  reports, the coach of Ghana's 1978 African Cup winning side died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital on Tuesday after a short illness.

Apart from the triumph in 1978, Coach Osam-Duodu led the Black Satellites to the 1993 African Youth (U-20) Championship and a silver medal at the 1993 FIFA World Youth Championship.

The 78-year-old was also in charge of the Black Stars during the 2002 African Cup of Nations, held in Mali.

He had stints coaching in other African countries and won the 2005 U-17 African title with Gambia.
