Former Accra Hearts of Oak footballer, Bernard Dong Bortey and 2009 U-20 World Cup winning midfielder, Gladson Awako will grace the maiden Amaesng Travel Charity U-15 football tournament scheduled for Saturday at the Konongo Senior High School in the Ashanti region.
The event would give young players the chance to showcase their football skills with eight teams to be involved in a knockout gala.

It forms part of Accra-based Amaesng's corporate social responsibility. It's an initiative of the outfit's American founder and CEO, Maria Maes Brown in collaboration with former Right to Dream student, Edward Opoku.

Though the 19-year-old Opoku would not be available for the event due to trials with Major League Soccer (MLS) side, he is optimistic the event would be successful.

“I just want to say a big thank you to Maria and Amaesng Travel and Tours for putting this together in my town, where I grew up playing soccer. I hope everything goes well and all these kids will make it worthwhile and get the opportunity to be in the US or somewhere else to achieve their goals," he stated.

Teams to compete on the day include,Universal Soccer Intellectuals, Royal Sporting Club, Shooting Stars Academy, Emmanuel FC, Palma FC, Chartered FC, Golden Palace FC and Talented Eagles.

They will compete in knockout matches of 40 minutes each. Participating teams will receive charitable packages from Amaesng and there will be trophies for the winners and prizes for first, second and third places.
