Asante Kotoko midfielder Fabio Gama has congratulated Hearts of Oak for emerging as champions of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.

The Brazilian midfielder in a post hailed Hearts of Oak’s victory.

“I also want to congratulate Accra Hearts of Oak on the title of Ghana 🇬🇭 Premier League, and it was never my intention to disrespect them,” the Brazilian said in his post.

It would be recalled that Gama incurred the wrath of Hearts of Oak fans after he shockingly claimed that he has no idea about the club, despite playing for their arch-rivals Asante Kotoko.

Gama, in an interview with Kumasi-based Pure FM, said “No I don’t know what is that” when he was asked if he has heard about Hearts of Oak.

Gama, however, declared Kotoko as the “biggest club in Ghana”, having joined the club in the latter parts of 2020.

His comment earned criticism on social media from Hearts of Oak fans. They believed Gama acted unprofessionally.

The Brazilian in a Facebook post, Gama apologized for his comment and also congratulated the Phobians for their Premier League title "I also want to congratulate Accra Hearts of Oak on the title of Ghana 🇬🇭 Premier League, and it was never my intention to disrespect them."

Last season, Fabio Gama netted four goals and provided six assists after making 28 appearances in the Ghana Premier League.
