Coach of the national team the Black Stars, Avram Grant has jumped to the defense of his team following criticisms by the public that the team play poorly especially in the second halves of both matches played so far.

Speaking at a press conference after the game he said, the team played good football in the first half and played a mature game in the second half.

“The pitch was very difficult to go stage a counter attack and many passes went away but am very happy the boys were matured enough to understand that we need the points,” he stated.

He added that, the team fought very well for the win and it was a game of two halves but at the end, Ghana won.

On Frank Acheampong, he said, the player did well though the Malian were very physical and very difficult to play with adding that Acheampong is good but not tall as Baba Rahman.

“However, the most important thing is to win games and secure three points and looking forward to the next game and quarter finals,” he stressed.

The Black Stars are hoping to win this year’s AFCON and qualification to the quarter final serves as a boost with regards to their ambitions.
