Accra Hearts of Oak lost their first Ghana Premier League game at their newly adopted Cape Coast Stadium after a 3-1 defeat to Ashantigold on Saturday, March 24, 2018.

Hearts will play their home games at the Cape Coast Stadium as their original home, the Accra Sports Stadium is currently undergoing renovation.

The Phobians were confident of a positive result after they picked up a point last week in Techiman.

It was the visitors that started brightly as they broke the deadlock in the 11th minute through midfielder James Akaminko.

The Phobians were stunned but managed to compose themselves and had few brilliant moments to draw level.

The first half ended as Ashantigold led 1-0.

The 2nd period started with optimism for Hearts but Amos Addai on the 60th-minute mark doubled the lead for Ashantigold who looked home and dry at this point.

New Hearts of Oak forward Joseph Esso reduced the deficit for Hearts and they looked like coming back strongly until Mumuni Shaffiu put the game to bed with a 90th-minute goal to make it 3-1 to Ashanti gold.

Ashantigold are currently on top of the league table with six points from their two opening games.

Hearts have dropped to 10th on the league table.

In the other fixture, Wa All Stars drew 0-0 with Ebusua Dwarfs.
