Ghanaian kickboxing world champion, Lawrence Nyanyo Nmai has donated items to the Ghana Kickboxing Federation in Accra as part of efforts to promote the sport in the country.

The gesture by the World European K1 Muay Thai title holder also forms part of preparations for the National Kickboxing Championship slated for December this year.

Assisted by his brother, Emmanuel Annang Nmai, the kickboxer presented 10 pairs of head guards, 10 shin guards and 10 boxing gloves.

The Switzerland-based Nyanyo Nmai said, he would present 10 titles for the National Championships and also be present to help in the organization of the event.

“This would help unearth talents for the country ahead of the Olympic Games and I encourage kickboxers across the country to participate,” he stated.

“Kickboxing as people perceive is not dead but rather has a very bright future if the right resources are put in place and athletes are encouraged to give out their best,” he added.

The Kickboxer urged young talented sportsmen and women to be dedicated to what they do in order to excel.

“There are many talents in the country and they need to keep training and determined to lift high the flag on Ghana at the world stage,” he stated.

He expressed appreciation to Ghanaians for their support and generosity especially, his brother as well as his parents.

President of the Ghana Kickboxing Federation, Joseph Mingle also expressed gratitude to Nmai for the donation and pledged to put it to judicious use.

He said, such donations would go a long way to develop the sport and called on individuals and corporate bodies to get involved.
