IBF lightweight champion Richard Commey has revealed he has been an inspiration to the youth since climbing up the ladder to win the world title and anytime he mounts the ring he is bent on making them proud.Â
The Bukom native will be making the second defence of his title against Honduran-American boxer Teofimo Lopez at the Madison Square Garden on December 14.
Commey stopped Ray Beltran in the 8th round in his first title defence on June 28.Â
According to the Ghanaian, he is not ready to relinquish his world title to Teofimo Lopez on December 14.Â
"I am training hard and I take every fight seriously, Teofimo is a good boxer, his camp sound great and they want to win the world title.
"I know he is going to come hard but I will be ready for him. I am working hard as well."
"It is not going to be an easy fight. Every time I mount unto the ring I remember those kids back home who are trying to be like me, those trying to follow the path I have been through and I have always got them in my heart."
Teofimo Lopez-Richard Commey fight will be part of an ESPN televised tripleheader, with Terence Crawford defending his WBO title in the main event against Egis Kavaliauskas.
Meanwhile, Ukranian boxer Lomachenko after defeating Luke Campbell has called for the winner of the Commey-Lopez to unify his three belts (WBC, WBA and WBO).
He wants to face either of them in the first quarter of 2020 with all four of the world titles at stake.
