According to top German transfers website, Transfermarkt, the African continent has a proud total list of 42 players contracted to clubs in the English Premier League, and Senegal & Nigeria lead the pack.

Asked to name African players in the Premier League, many of us easily drop the popular names of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Alex Iwobi and Victor Wanyama.

But who else might we be forgetting?

Here’s a list of all Africans contracted to EPL clubs:

Senegal's six

  1. Sadio Mané - Liverpool FC
  2. Idrissa Gueye - Everton FC
  3. Cheikhou Kouyaté - Crystal Palace
  4. Oumar Niasse - Cardiff City
  5. Mohamed Diamé - Newcastle United
  6. Pape Souaré - Crystal Palace

Nigeria with five players:

  1. Wilfred Ndidi - Leicester City
  2. Alex Iwobi - Arsenal FC
