Mohamed Salah is set to join Turkish side Trabzonspor on a free transfer after mutually agreeing to terminate his Liverpool contract a year early.

Salah ended a nine-year spell at Anfield by cutting short the terms he had agreed in April 2025 after a difficult season for the 34-year-old, which saw him dropped and publicly fall out with then Liverpool head coach Arne Slot.

One of Liverpool's greatest players, Salah lifted seven major trophies during his time on Merseyside and left as the club's third-highest goalscorer, netting 257 in 442 games.

He has long been a target for clubs in Saudi Arabia, and that appeared to be Salah's most likely destination when he delivered a bombshell interview after being dropped at Leeds last season.

It was less than three years ago that Liverpool rejected a £150m offer from Saudi club Al Ittihad for Salah. However, he is now set for a spell in the Turkish Superlig. Trabzonspor will enter the Europa League playoffs after finishing third last season.
