Former Asante Kotoko captain, Joseph Hendrick has cautioned the team's defenders to stay calm and careful with the Al Hilal attackers when both teams clash on Sunday in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The one-time no-nonsense defender is the latest to offer Asante Kotoko some pointers ahead of their clash with the Sudanese side in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage.

The Ghanaians have been drawn together with the North Africans in Group C, which is completed by Zambian duo Zesco United and Nkana FC.

The former Black Stars defender in an interview with Ashh FM Sports in Kumasi remains one of the biggest fans of the Club and has counseled the Asante Kotoko defenders led by skipper Amos Frimpong to stay awake throughout the game to tame the fearsome attack of the Sudanese heavyweights.

"I will advice Kotoko Defenders to be calm and careful with Al Hilal strikers and not committing unnecessary fouls within their goal area because they are good in freekicks"

"Kotoko Defenders should be confident and maintain their composure from the start of the game to the end"

The 44-year-old further entreated the playing body to use the competition to enrich their CV and cautioned the team against intimidation from the North African supporters.

"Playing in the CAF Confederation enriches your CV as a player so the players must do well to write their CV's well"

"Kotoko players should be careful in the first 15mins of the game because when Al Hilal fail to score within the first 15minutes, they (Al Hilal) gets frustrated"

"Their supporting base is very large so the players should expect massive Intimidation at the stadium but they should be focused and concentrated on the field", he ended.

Hendrick featured in over 75 matches for the Reds and managed 7 goals in his stint with the Baba Yara outfits.

However, Asante Kotoko conceded four goals during the preliminary stages and netted seven goals in 4 games.

Al Hilal will host the first meeting between the two sides tomorrow, February 3 before travelling for matchday five’s return encounter on March 10 at the Baba Yara stadium.
