Pep Guardiola has denied his coaching is "better than sex" in a hilarious response to Dani Alves' strange claim.

Alves, 35, had made the bizarre comparison between the two in a new documentary charting Pep's fabled Barcelona tenure.

The Brazilian defender was part of Guardiola's all-conquering Barcelona team who won 14 trophies in their four years working together.

When Guardiola, 47, was quizzed about the comments during his press conference for this weekend's Manchester derby, he had his witty response ready:

He said: "I prefer the sex."

The Manchester City gaffer was clearly in high spirits during the conference as he also aimed a not-so-subtle dig at Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who he infamously fell out with at the Nou Camp.

He added: “I can see a huge list who are on the opposite side, a list where they love me a lot, like Dani.

Dani and Pep

“They have another side from Sweden and other places where they don't like me too much. Normally it happens when people don't play regularly they are not big fans. We try to convince them - sometimes yes, sometimes no.”

Alves looked set to link back up with Guardiola in 2017 but he recently revealed to Sky Sports why he rejected Manchester in favour of Paris.

He said: “It was all done to go to Manchester City but it didn't happen because of a family decision.

“Pep knew my intentions. I spoke with him, he knew my intention to work with him and his staff again.

"He knows the gigantic respect I have for them, which is why I wanted to work with him again until something else came up.

"For me, it was a shame not to work with Guardiola again because he knows I adore him, but at the same time it was a new challenge which is what changed my mind.”
