Referee Tony Weeks was right to stop the Dogbe-Juarez bout- Ataa Eddie Pappoe

Ghana’s leading boxing referee /judge, Ataa Eddie Pappoe, says Referee Tony Weeks was right for stopping the fight between Isaac Dogbe and Cesar Juarez in the Interim World Boxing Organization (WBO) Super Bantamweight title fight, last Saturday, at the Bukom Boxing Arena, Accra.

According to Pappoe, who is the President of African Boxing Union Ring Officials, the referee in the middle acted professionally on the night.

“There was nothing wrong with the stoppage. Tony acted swiftly and promptly. There are rules of every game.”

After the fight, Juarez who was knocked down by Dogboe protested the decision of the referee to stop the fight.

Ataa Eddie Pappoe, noted that the number of falls in a fight, plays a role deciding the winner of a contest, including ring generalship.
