Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes rejected Ghanaian midfielder, Alhassan Wakaso's move to Turkish powerhouse Besiktas during the January transfer window, PrimeNewsGhana can reveal.

According to sources, the player was in the wish books of the Turkish outfit but the deal was blocked by Guimaraes.

Besiktas offered the Portuguese outfit 500 thousand euros to loan them the Ghanaian international with an option to buy during the summer transfer window but they rejected the offer.

Though the deal was hot and tempting, Victoria Guimaraes could only respond negatively to the deal from the Black and White.

The reason for this was the fact that Besiktas's offer came immediately after Guimaraes have loaned out Colombian midfielder Guillermo Celis to Argentine side Colon.

The 27-year-old this season has featured 23 times for Guimaraes scoring a goal in the process.

Alhassan is the junior brother or Alaves and Black Stars midfielder, Mubarak Wakaso.
