Sports Minister visits Ga Mantse ahead of major sporting events

Sports Minister Kofi Iddie Adams has paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, at his palace, seeking the support and blessings of traditional authority for Ghana’s upcoming sporting activities.

The visit highlighted the strong collaboration between traditional leadership and state institutions in promoting sports development and national unity.

During the engagement, the Minister announced that Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, has qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, marking the country’s fifth appearance at the global tournament. He described the achievement as a testament to Ghana’s growing reputation in international football and its commitment to nurturing talent.

Kofi Adams also revealed that Ghana will host major sporting events, including the Senior Athletics Championship and the African Arm-wrestling Championships in Accra. He noted that these events will not only showcase Ghana’s sporting potential but also promote unity and national pride.

The Minister commended the Ga Mantse for his leadership and dedication to peace and youth development, stressing that such support from traditional authorities is crucial for national progress.

In his remarks, the Ga Mantse described sports as a powerful tool for unity and national development. He urged the Minister to continue promoting Ghana’s culture on the global stage, especially during international competitions like the World Cup.

The traditional ruler also called for unity within the Black Stars camp, encouraging players and officials to remain focused and committed. He emphasised that representing Ghana should be a source of pride and a symbol of national cohesion.

The Ga Mantse further urged the Minister to remain committed to his mandate and offered prayers for the success of Ghana’s national teams in future competitions.
