Newly appointed National Sports Authority boss, Professor Peter Twumasi says the warning from CAF to Asante Kotoko to improve the pitch of Baba Yara stadium is a wake call to improve the pitch.

The Porcupine Warriors after sailing through to the Group stage of the 2019 Total CAF Confederation Cup for the first time since 2008 after edging out Kenyan outfit, Kariobangi Sharks and Cameroon's Coton Sport of Garoua yesterday were authorized by  the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to improve the standard of Baba Yara to meet the competition's requirement set or face a ban from the stadium.

This has however awakened the National Sports Authority boss to redoubled his effort to improve the green nature of the pitch to meet CAF's standard to avoid Asante Kotoko from being banned from honoring their CAF Confederation Cup Group C matches at the stadium.

"We had a two-day workshop for all the Regional Heads of NSA to see to the maintenance of our facilities in the Country", he told Kumasi-based Ashh FM.

"The purpose of our inspection is to see and make sure that the stadium is in good shape and also to see that it meets the required standards of CAf because it's the home grounds for Kotoko in the CAF Confederation Cup"

"I'm embarking on a regional tour to inspect all the stadia we have in the Country to make sure they are all in proper condition"

"We have had series of meetings with green grass technology to see to the improvement and betterment of Baba Yara pitch to meet the required standards of FIFA and CAF"

"The report from CAF is for us to improve the standard of Baba Yara pitch and we are ready to do just that because the Baba Yara Sports Stadium has been without renovation for about 10years now so Mr Frank Boahen have started working on the pitch ahead of Kotoko group stage games to meet CAF's standard"

"The dedication of the management, technical team and the playing body of Kotoko is really high so NSA is in full support of Kotoko in their African Campaign...It's our prayer that they win the trophy to make Ghana proud", he ended.

The Porcupine Warriors will be hoping the NSA boss fulfill his promise to revamp the green nature of their favorite Baba Yara stadium when they play host to Zambian champions, Zesco United on Wednesday, January 13.
