U-23 AFCON: Robin Polley & 10 other foreign stars to join Black Meteors camp

Robin Polley has been handed his maiden called up to the Black Meteors ahead of the CAF U-23 AFCON tournament.

Robin who is the son of ex-Ghana and Kotoko striker Prince Polley is among the 11 foreign-based players invited to join the Black Meteors as the team continue preparations for the said tournament.  

He made his debut in the Dutch Eredivisie for ADO Den Haag in their 2-0 away win at Vitesse.

Coach Ibrahim team is expecting the foreign contingent to be in Accra latest by Wednesday, October 30 to the 22 locally-based players who have been camping Mplaza Hotel in Accra. 

Among the invited foreign players include Black Stars striker Kwabena Owusu who missed out of the Black Meteors game against Algeria due to visa issues.

The Black Meteors have been drawn in what can be termed the ‘group of death’ with hosts Egypt, Mali and Cameroon for the 2019 U-23 AFCON tournament.

The Black Meteors will be competing in Group A of the 8-team competition scheduled to be staged in Egypt from November 8-22.

The top three finishers at the final tournament will qualify to represent Africa at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
