As part of efforts to assist in tackling graduate unemployment in the country and develop local content, GNPC-Technip Engineering Services Limited(GTES), a subsidiary of TechnipFMC, welcomed its sixth batch of Interns into the company.
Seven students from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) and Regional Maritime University (RMU) are currently undergoing internship with the possibility of being employed at the end of the process.
TechnipFMC, since 2012 has engaged over 37 interns with most of them retained in the company in a quest to develop local content.
The Company has since its inception in Ghana in 2009 (through Legacy Technip), strategically partnered with KNUST and RMU, to develop a collaborative three-stage recruitment program; Internship, National Service, and Potential Permanent Employment.
Currently, 18 Ghanaians are employed permanently through this program, with some now occupying Lead Engineer positions in the Installation, Structure and Pipeline Engineering Departments.
The aim of this program is to train and develop graduates with the requisite skills for the Ghanaian oil and gas industry, to eventually take over the industry as skilled leaders.
The interns, on completion of their service, are retained in the company solely based on performance, resilience, team work and interpersonal skills.
